Fall/Winter Preview

Since it’s already a month into the Fall, and Oscar Season is coming up I decided to write down my top ten movies to see before the end of the year. 2012 is looking to have a strong showing to cap the year with some incredible films on deck. Peter Jackson, Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Haneke, Gus Van Sant, David O. Russell, Tom Hooper, Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes, Joe Wright all have films coming out. Doesn’t get much better than that.

The Cabin in the Woods

It’s not hard to see what The Cabin in the Woods is doing. The problem is, the filmmakers seem to think its more genius than it actually is.

Argo

 

(2012 – Director: Ben Affleck   Cast: Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman)

What we have with Argo is a surgically precise film done with care and thoughtfulness, but ultimately lacks the deeper connection that makes people talk about the film afterwards.

League Assignment: Trip to anywhere in pop culture

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a blog top from Cool and Collected’s League of Extraordinary Bloggers, but I couldn’t pass up this week’s topic. We’re assigned to choose a place, time, or world we would visit that exists in pop culture. Although there’s so many to choose from, a strange choice came to my mind first. I know it’s more of a building than a town or world, but what the heck.
